Planning Your Website Copy

Whether you already have a website and are planning a redesign, or are excitedly planning your first foray into the world of websites, you need to spend some time strategising your ideas and getting what it is you want to achieve down on paper (or screen). Without proper planning, your website will be directionless and you’ll find it harder to convert visits into sales. But it can be daunting, trying to summarise everything that makes your business special and convert it into a satisfying customer experience.

J3 Building Solutions Ltd, one of the most renowned commercial builders Newcastle has serving it, had a clear plan for their website from the outset.

J3 Building Solutions Ltd - Commercial Builders Newcastle

The website header contains the company logo and strapline, contact icons and details and a simple navigation menu. Directly below we have a hero banner displaying their finest work with a static call to action overlayed on top to direct users straight to the contact page if they are inclined to enquire at an early stage.

Below, the introduction text gives a concise introduction to the history and services of the company, offering links to relevant sections within the site which expand on this. We also see a well-written customer testimonial – this helps to add value and trust in a user’s mind, so it’s important that the client’s feedback has been properly proofed and edited for spelling and grammar if necessary.

The other pages follow a similar format, with the main content of the section displayed on the left hand side, backed up by a different, relevant testimonial on the right hand column. The previous projects page has some fine photography backed up by concise descriptions of the work undertaken and the finished results.

By planning properly and providing well-written content, this commercial builder has managed to win new clients in no time. Never underestimate the importance of content strategization!
